If Google Local Services Ads bring you phone calls and booked jobs, there’s a change rolling out right now that you should know about.
Google is shutting down the standalone Local Services Ads dashboard and moving everything into the main Google Ads platform. Google is rebuilding it as a specialized Performance Max campaign type inside Google Ads, made just for local service businesses like yours.
Before you panic, here’s the good news. The way your ads work and bring in business is not changing. What’s changing is where you manage them and how the backend runs. Here’s a plain breakdown of what stays the same, what’s different, and what you should do next.
What’s Staying the Same With Your Local Services Ads
This is the part that actually affects your bottom line, so let’s start here.
- You still only pay for real leads. It’s the same pay-per-lead setup you know today. You pay when someone calls, messages, or books through your ad. You do not pay for clicks.
- Your ad placement is not moving. Your ads will keep showing up at the top of Google Search and Google Maps, in the same prime spots.
- Your trust signals carry over. Your Google Screened or Google Guaranteed badge, your reviews, and your service categories all transfer with no gap in what customers see.
- Your budgets and creative carry over automatically. You will not need to rebuild your account from scratch when your business migrates, though weekly budgets will convert to a daily average.
What’s Actually Changing in the Move to Google Ads
The change is about where and how your campaigns get managed, not what they do.
- One dashboard instead of two. Instead of logging into a separate Local Services Ads portal, you will manage leads, calls, and budgets right inside Google Ads.
- Automatic syncing with your Google Business Profile. Your business name, address, hours, and services will pull straight from your Business Profile, so updates in one place show up everywhere.
- Smarter, automated bidding. Instead of setting a manual price cap on each lead, Google will use automated bidding to hit a cost-per-lead target you set.
When Is the LSA Migration Happening?
Google is rolling this out in phases, not all at once.
| Phase | Timing | Who Migrates |
| Phase 1 | August 2026 | Select U.S. home and storefront service advertisers, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, house cleaning, lawn care, roofing, pest control, and moving |
| Phase 2 | Late 2026 | Broader U.S. advertiser groups, including service-area businesses without storefronts and accounts with custom bidding or booking setups |
| Phase 3 | 2027 | Non-U.S. accounts and all remaining business categories |
One Thing You Need to Do Right Now
If you manage your own Local Services Ads account, do this today: download and save your historical performance reports.
Google has confirmed that past performance reports from the old Local Services Ads dashboard will not automatically carry over once your account moves to Google Ads. Your lead history transfers, but your reporting does not. If you want year-over-year records of cost per lead and performance, back up your reports before your account migrates.
What the LSA Migration Means for Your Business
Change like this can feel like one more thing on your plate. But once everything lives inside Google Ads, it actually makes your overall ad strategy easier to manage, since your Local Services Ads, Search, and other Google campaigns all live under one roof.
If Relentless Digital manages your campaigns, you do not need to lift a finger. Our team is already handling the account prep, backing up your historical reports, and adjusting your bidding setup so your leads keep coming in without interruption. This is exactly the kind of account maintenance we handle every day as part of our Local Services Ads management.
Want Someone Else Watching Your Local Services Ads Account?
Migrations like this are where accounts get missed. Reports do not get backed up, bidding settings get left on default, and leads slow down without anyone noticing until it shows up in the numbers weeks later.
If you would rather have a team handle the transition, track your leads, and keep your cost per lead in check, that is what our Local Services Ads management service is built for.
Book a call with our team and we will look at your account, walk you through what this migration means for you, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
