Website Design FAQs

Everything contractors need to know about building a website that actually converts visitors into booked calls.

Your Website Should Be Your Best Salesperson

Most contractor websites look fine but don’t actually do anything. They sit there like a digital business card while your competitors are running sites that capture leads at 2 AM, educate homeowners before they ever pick up the phone, and rank on Google for the services you offer. At Relentless Digital, we build WordPress websites specifically designed for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and roofing contractors — custom-designed, mobile-first, and built to convert.

Below are the questions we hear most from contractors evaluating a new website or considering a redesign. If you don’t see your question here, reach out — we’re always happy to talk through it.

Do you build custom websites or use templates?

Every website we build is custom-designed. We don’t use cookie-cutter templates and slap your logo on them. That said, we do ask for design inspiration during our discovery process, and we’ve learned over the years which layouts and structures convert best for contractors. So while every site looks and feels unique to your brand, the underlying conversion architecture is based on years of data about what actually gets homeowners to pick up the phone or fill out a form.

What platform do you build websites on?

We build on WordPress. It’s the most flexible, widely supported CMS on the planet, and it gives you true ownership of your site. You’re never locked into proprietary software that holds your website hostage. If you ever decide to leave Relentless Digital, your WordPress site goes with you — theme files, content, everything.

How long does it take to build a new contractor website?

A standard new build typically takes 9 to 12 weeks from kickoff to launch. That includes strategy and planning (2 weeks), custom design (2–3 weeks), development (3–4 weeks), content migration or creation (1–2 weeks), and testing and launch (1 week). Redesigns of existing sites follow a similar timeline. We don’t rush the process because cutting corners on your website means cutting corners on your lead flow.

How much does a contractor website cost?

A standard custom website with up to 30 pages typically starts at $15,000. Larger sites with 30–60 pages and more complex functionality run $20,000–$25,000. Enterprise-level builds with 60+ pages, multiple locations, and custom integrations start at $30,000+. The initial build is a one-time investment, and then ongoing website management, hosting, and updates are included in your monthly marketing program.

Will my website be mobile-friendly?

Absolutely — we design mobile-first. Over 70% of homeowners searching for a contractor are doing it on their phone, usually in a moment of urgency. If your site doesn’t load fast, look great, and make it dead simple to call or book from a phone screen, you’re losing leads every single day. Every site we build is fully responsive and optimized for Core Web Vitals.

Do I own my website if I leave?

Yes — 100%. Your domain, your website files, your content, your hosting access — it all belongs to you. This is a core value at Relentless Digital. We think agencies that hold client websites hostage are doing it wrong. We earn your business every month through results, not by trapping you in a system you can’t leave.

What’s included in ongoing website management?

Your monthly program includes hosting, security (SSL certificate), regular backups, plugin updates, speed optimization, and content updates. You also get up to 15 service pages, up to 10 location pages, a 24/7 chatbot to capture leads around the clock, instant notifications when someone requests service, and ongoing SEO content published to your site. You never have to worry about the technical side — we handle all of it.

Will my site have a chatbot?

Yes. Every website we build includes a chatbot that works 24/7 to capture leads — even at 2 AM when your office is closed. When a homeowner lands on your site after hours and starts chatting, the bot gathers their information and creates a lead for your team to follow up on first thing in the morning. It’s one of the highest-converting features on any contractor website.

What happens to my SEO rankings during a redesign?

This is one of the biggest concerns contractors have — and it’s valid. A poorly handled redesign can tank your rankings overnight. That’s why we take SEO preservation seriously. We maintain your URL structure wherever possible, set up 301 redirects for any changed URLs, preserve your title tags and meta descriptions, transfer your schema markup, and monitor your rankings throughout the entire transition. Our goal is zero ranking disruption.

How many pages will my website have?

It depends on how many services you offer and how many cities you serve, but a typical contractor website we build has 25–40+ pages. That includes a homepage, individual pages for each core service you offer, dedicated location pages for the cities in your service area, an about page, a contact page, and often a reviews or testimonials page. More pages targeting the right keywords means more opportunities to rank on Google and capture leads.

Do you write the content for my website, or do I need to provide it?

We handle all the content. Our team writes every page at a 7th–8th grade reading level so it’s accessible to the widest possible audience, and we optimize every page for the keywords homeowners are actually searching. If you have existing content you’d like to keep or migrate, we’ll transfer it and improve it. But you’ll never be stuck staring at a blank page, wondering what to write.

Can I make changes to my website myself?

If you need any updates or edits, big or small, simply send them to your account manager and our team will take care of it for you. All website changes are handled through us as part of your ongoing management to ensure everything stays accurate, functional, and optimized.
